It's all washcloths all the time.  This is the set for my son's teacher.  I don't know what picture I will put tomorrow because this is the only thing I've been working on.  Since I haven't worked on the shawl in a wile I had taken the needles for another project and not marked what I had been working with.  Luckily the needles I have and the Knitters Pride Dreamz (Knit Pro in Europe I think) that are color coded so I looked back at the picture I had taken and matched the color.  I decided I was too timid to try to rip back the shawl the way I was thinking so I'm kind of "tinking."  I am going stitch by stitch but I'm going down two or three rows to do it. Hopefully I can get it done quickly, besides the deadline of the wedding I have a sweater, a shawl and socks waiting for me.

This is the set I made for my daughter's teacher.  Yesterday I watched podcasts.  I finally got to watch Homespun House but mostly I watched Knit 1 Heart Too.  They are coming up on their sad episode so I'm not looking forward to that.  Not really anything else interesting in that area so we just have one more picture.

There is one boy in my Amey's class that had a special teacher assigned to him.  This teacher helped with the whole class as well so my daughter wanted to give her something too.  I got a view from Canada, I don't think I've had one from there before. The weather has been beautiful and tomorrow we are going shopping for shoes for the wedding.  With my sister getting married in a week and some friends from collage having their 16th wedding anniversary  my Facebook has been filed with lovey messages.  As in any marriage there are ups and downs and right now we are in a bit of a down so the messages make me grumble.  Not that I don't want others to be happy but that I'm just not in a lovey mood right now.  I'll be fine by the wedding.  :)  See you next time.

Washcloths!  We are almost done, that one on the needles is the last one.  Yeah!  I am excited to get back to the red shawl.  My plan is to use a smaller needle and thread it through  where I know the count is right then rip back to that.  I'll let you know how it goes.

I didn't mean to skip yesterday.  It was one of those days that just got away from me. Today's post may be a little longer but there won't be much knitting content because it's all washcloths.  On Tuesday I listened to podcasts.  So many people had put new episodes out I didn't get to listen to Homespun House.  Heather (Fiberista Files) is having a knit along that I really want to participate in.  I don't usually join those (and I probably can't join this one) but I really want to with this one.  They are doing a Martina Behm pattern called Endless Rainbow.  It's kind of like the a cross between Hitchhiker and Leftie (you can look those up on Ravelry).  It goes until Labor day so maybe I can join later. Stacey (Coffee with Stacey) had an interesting episode about the military personal in her family.  It was very moving. I really enjoyed listening to everyone.

For kdrama yesterday I watched more of Personal Taste.  I'm up to episode 13 and there are only 16.  It's really sweet and it's better now than at the beginning.  The main female character is really growing.  The big heartbreak is coming but it will be o.k. in the end.  I haven't watched more of That Winter... but it will be my next drama after Personal taste.  After that I was thinking of doing My Love From Another Star (You Who Came From The Stars).  There wasn't a new Running Man when I looked.

Yesterday was the 4th grade recognition ceremony.  It was kind of like a mini graduation but they still have school.  They are having a picnic today.  The kids only have about four days of school left before the wedding.  I notified the school and the teachers so taking the kids out of school two days early is o.k.  The weather is wonderful.  That's it that I can think of.  I'm sure I'm forgetting something but that's o.k. I'll see you next time.

The green and brown one was the half finished one you  saw before and now I'm working on the yellow ones.  I have three wash cloths left to do.  I also received, today, the lotion and soap gift sets from Wolfe Farms.  I ordered it late on Friday and got it today, and yesterday was a holiday in the U.S. so there was no mail.  The shipping is expensive but this is why.  There are seven days left of school so that's the deadline for this project. The next deadline is to see if I can finish the shawl by my the 4th of June.  After that I'll get back to my husband's sweater (remember that?).

I don't really have anything else to say except some WOW talk.  Since I went to the birthday party on Saturday I didn't play much WOW so I played yesterday.  I am over half done with the quests in Darkshore,  and I started a toon on another server so hopefully I can meet up with someone else from Ravelry. The big news though is that I got my second toon to level 90!  It took me about two years but I do take long breaks sometimes and it wasn't the only thing I was concentrating on.  She has now quit her life of fighting and going to go work on farming and leveling her professions.  I may even have her do archaeology.

Anyway that's it, sorry if it was boring.  Hopefully I'll have something more interesting to say next time.  Tomorrow is the 4th grade recognition assembly and this weekend I'll get some shoes for my daughter to wear at the wedding (she grows so fast I didn't want her to grow out of them before the wedding).   Time to get back to house keeping.  See you next time.

I have no new pictures for you so here is one of the last of the mittens.  I really didn't get much done over the weekend.  Maybe I'll have a picture tomorrow.

I haven't done much this weekend at all.  On Friday the podasts were regular and Saturday I didn't get much done in WOW.  I got about half a washcloth done at a birthday party on Saturday and yesterday I worked on the blanket for PRR.

I did watch one drama special yesterday.  It was called When I Was The Prettiest or My Prettiest Memories.  It was not what I expected.  It was about an hour long and had sort of an art film feel to it.  It's about a woman who's cancer has come back again.  She wants to go on a last trip with her family and die at home. Her husband wants her to take cancer treatment again even though there is little hope.  The concept of a guardian feels weird to me.  Because the husband is the guardian, the doctors discuss what is wrong and what the treatment should be with him and not her. That's not necessarily important to the story it was just odd to me even though I've seen the concept in dramas before. O.k. back to the story after the tangent.  Wile she is in the hospital she meets a young guy who is acting as guardian for his girlfriend.  They develop a relationship and it causes everyone pain.  I'm not sure I liked it but if you are looking it up I feel like the mydramalist summary is kind of inaccurate.

The other thing I watched was the Joss Whedon version of Much Ado About Nothing. It was different that I was expecting but it was good.  I love the Kenneth Branagh version so it's interesting to compare the two.   The Branagh version seemed funnier to me I think because the Whedon version was shot in black ans white. I liked the chemistry between Beatrice and Benedick in the Branagh version as well. Michael Keaton played Dogberry as a drunk where Nathan Fillion played it more bubbling and offended at being called an ass. With the Whedon version besides being black and white it was filmed quickly so it has a home movie or security footage feel to it. They also cast Conrad as female so that had an interesting twist. I think the Whedon version may be more accessible to a lot of people but I really like the Branagh version better for laughing.

The kids have today off for Memorial day so once again I'm not getting much done.  It's a little rainy here but mostly muggy. We are starting the count down to my sister's wedding. That's about it.  Sorry there isn't much knitting content hopefully next time.  See you then.

See I told you there would be more washcloths.  These are both "Double Bump."   I just have to make two of the green and brown ones and I'll have hit the six I was aiming for.  I'll decide about the final three after that. Nothing really other than washcloths on the knitting front so I'll go on to kdrama.

Personal Taste is kind of fun.  Lee Min Ho is always pretty to look at as well.  The story started out sort of hectic like it's bumbling heroine but it has sort of smoothed out.  There is a lot of bathroom humor, meaning throwing up and diarrhea.  It has definitely gotten sweeter and deeper.  I just finished episode 9 so I'm over half way done.  They have just admitted they like each other so now something big and bad has to happen so they can be apart till the end of the show (like the reveling of all the lies that have been told).  The shows tend to follow a pattern.  I've been calling the other show I've been watching That Winter Wind Blows but I think it's actually That Winter, the Wind Blows.   Not sure it's a big distinction but figured I should mention it. It was never sappy like Personal Taste.  In the first three episodes we have had multiple fist fights and beating, a stabbing and an attempted suicide.  The show has a sad serious feeling.  It's interesting to go from one show to the other since they are so different.  I know I'm not talking much about the plots but you can look them up and I'll talk more about that when I finish the show and review it.

Since it's nice outside I think I may blow off the house work and go drag my son outside.  Amey has been out since noon but Mooky just wants to watch TV and it's too nice of a day for that (the kids have the day off of school).  That's enough of my rambling I think.  See you next time.

More washcloths.  I have a feeling that you will be seeing these for a wile. The blue and yellow one is the crochet "Easy Crocheted Dishcloth" pattern and the green one is the "Double Bump."  Originally I planned to make six in total, three for each of my children's teachers.  My daughter has an extra helper/aid in the class room and wants to give something to her as well so I may end up making nine all together.   These two are about the same size and smaller than the fist one.  I'm working on my fourth one right now.

I finished the baby blanket except for weaving in the ends.  Now that one more project is off the hooks I'll work on my shawl for my sister's wedding.  I wanted to use some hand spun and make the "Dahlia Shawl" but now I don't think that's a good idea.  The yarn, wile red, really has an orange cast to it and I wand a deeper red.  The "Age of Brass and Steam" shawl I was working on before has a better red so I will pick that up again and rip back to where I know the count is right.  I really wanted to make my daughter a shrug for the wedding but I'm not going to have time and no one thinks she would need it.  That's enough planning for now I guess.

:Listening to podcasts yesterday was really interesting.  I did get farther on Knit 1 Heart Too but what really got me thinking was Coffee with Stacey. She was talking about how people ask her what her secret to success is and she says there is no secret it's just repeated hard work. She also thinks it's good to have a crazy dream you want to work toward because it may seem crazy, but if you work on it a little every day it can really get done. She challenged everyone to think of some thing they accomplished by just working hard and chipping away at it little by little and getting a crazy dream.  This really made me think because I felt sort of like I had made bad choices and had to live with them and no longer had the right to dream.  Or that dreaming was too complicated because there were so many things in the way.  I didn't realize I wasn't dreaming anymore.  It took me about twelve hours to think of something I've accomplished and even then it doesn't feel that big or worthy of the title.  I really had to look hard at my thought patterns.  I made a list of some goals.  I'm kind of waffling between being inspired and overwhelmed by them. Right now I think my goal will be to put more effort into getting healthy.  I only work on it half-heartedly and I think I could make some major changes if I put some effort in.

I think that should be enough of the thoughts rattling around in my head. There is more in there but it's so hard to express this way.  I have more thinking to do as well.  Amey hasn't had a fever in over twenty-four hours and the day is nice so I will end here.  See you next time.

Here is the baby blanket I am working on for my husband's coworker.  She is having a girl is you can guess by the colors.  I have a boy colored blanket if the ultrasound is wrong (but they rarely are these days).  I am not a fan of pastels a like to give babies bright colors.  I'm going to edge it in a dark purple.

I worked on the wash cloths and finished a second one but I had to switch to crochet.  I was about an inch or so from finishing it when I ran out of yarn, so I ripped it out and made my favorite crochet pattern.  The problem is it's smaller.  When I make the next ones for my daughter's teacher I'll make it a few stitches smaller and maybe I can get two out of the ball of yarn.  I really need to work on those since we don't have much time left before school is out.

For kdrama I watched one episode of That Winter Wind Blows and one of Personal Taste.  They are very different.  I was planning on watching more Personal Taste but yesterday was off a little.  I did watch the new Running Man.  It was o.k. It felt like they tried to cram too many things into one episode and it was choppy with no flow.  It was still kind of funny.  No one seems to have subbed Yoona's Street (I've seen it spelled so many ways).  I'll have to ask the kdrama girls about this.

The weather is nice and other than poor Amey missing her field trip there is nothing going on.  We'll finish her music project so she can present it Tuesday.  She is getting better and has no fever.  I think that's it, see you next time.

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

I finished one washcloth yesterday.  I really wanted to make three out of the same yarn but I'm not 100% sure I can finish the second one.  I have some green and white cotton that was way more expensive but I don't see why it wouldn't work.  I bought it after it was discontinued with the intent of making a cotton top for my sister but I don't think that will happen so it will pressed into service as a washcloth.  I'm still hoping I can squeeze a second washcloth out of the yarn I have.

Yesterday I listened to podcasts.  I found out someone who used to do an audio podcast and stopped started a video one.  So now Coffee With Stacey is added to my listening list.  So many people updated I didn't get a chance to listen to Knit 1 Heart Too at all.

My adventure today was that my daughter woke up with a fever.  I thought she was better since she didn't seem be be running a fever at all yesterday.  Since it had been three days I took her to the Urgent Care clinic and they said she has flu.  We haven't had the flu in years and we don't get flu shots.  On top of that it's really late in the year for flu.  Amey is really sad because tomorrow her class is going to go on a field trip and now she can't go. Because of this I will wash the washcloths before I give them.  Usually I like to just give them because they look so crisp but I don't want to infect anyone else.  I think that's it for today.  Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Some time last year the woman who had me as a secret sister gave me this yarn.  Since I'm not a big fan of the yarn I made some of it up and gave it to her at the reveal.  The picture is a bit blurry so the yarn actually looks like hard salami or something.  The hat is the Divine Hat pattern and the scarf is the Cascading Keyhole Scarf and both are free on Ravelry, both are crochet.  I did make the scarf a few stitches longer than the pattern.  I put my adjustments on my project page.

Someone asked what a "secret sister" was so I figured I'd explain how the one I was in went but it can be easily adapted.  At my church a group of women sign up.  You fill out a paper about what you like and things like that.  Everyone gets together has breakfast and draws a name.  Over the next year, about once a month, you give your person a little gift or maybe a card with some encouraging words. Since it was through a church it is also expected that you pray for the person you get.  As you give to someone there is a person that is giving you a gift. At the end of the year you go back to the breakfast and you find out who had you all year and draw a new name.  The short answer is that it's like secret Santa but better.  Because of money I didn't sign up again but hopefully next year.

I did play a little WOW on Saturday but I didn't do too much.  Yesterday I worked on a baby blanket and watched kdrama.  I did find Personal Taste on gooddrama but haven't looked at Hulu again.  It's not a bad show but it is a bit cheesy and not nearly as well filmed as The King of Dramas.  Today is when Yoo Na's Street is supposed to air so I'll look tomorrow to see if it's been subbed yet.  The kdrama girls on Ravelrey are throwing fits (not really) that the subs for their favorite shows are not up yet.

Amey was sick yesterday and so she stayed home to day.  She worked on her drums for her music class project.  She is feeling better now so she'll go back to school tomorrow. That's it for my adventures.  I'll see you next time.

Saturday, May 17, 2014

I couldn't find my camera so I used my daughter's.  The picture looks o.k. here but it's a bit blurry.  I blocked it a little too hard so if my secret sister ever washes it (I put a tag on it to hand wash cold and lay flat to dry) it should shrink a little.  I really would have liked it better if I could have added one more repeat to it.  I still have a bunch left over so I was kind of thinking of making again and alternating the blue and red and just keep going till I run out of yarn.  I want to make it in a worsted too and get a really big squishy shawl. I finished the hat and scarf as well.

Now that I have those two projects off the needles/hooks the next project that I plan is making six wash cloths or so.  The plan is to order some soap and lotion from Wolfe Farms and put it with the washcloths for teacher gifts.  I still have the the baby blanket to make for my husband's coworker but she has already gone on maternity leave and he probably won't see her till she gets back in a couple of months.  After that I still have my husband's never ending sweater.  I am out of baby mitten ideas (for now) so for my charity knitting so I am going to make a blanket.  I of course have other plans but I'll hold off on those till I get some of these done.

I listened to podcasts yesterday.  Amy Beth (The Fat Squirrel Speaks) was funny as usual.  I think I'm up to about episode 70 of Knit 1 Heart Too.  It's fun knitting or crocheting wile listening to other people talk about their projects.  Today I'm playing WOW and tomorrow I'll try and look for Personal Taste again.

It's been a busy week.  On Thursday I went to a meeting about what to expect when your child goes to middle school.  The parents tended to be emotional but the kids were just having fun with the combination lock they were given to practice on because next year they have them on their lockers.  When I went to get Amey up on Friday morning she had it in bed with her.  On Friday we went to a school art show, which was o.k. but would have been a touch more fun if one of my kids had been in it. Today was the secret sister reveal and that was fun too.  Next week looks calmer but it's a short one because of Memorial Day. Outside of planning for the summer I think we are done.  See you next time.

Friday, May 16, 2014

I have nothing to show you so here are some baby mitts.

Yesterday I skipped because I was busy and because I wanted to finish the Shaelyn to show you. I did finish it really late last night but I didn't take a picture because it's still blocking.  I ripped out the scarf because it looked horrid.  I have another idea and I think I can do it quickly.  I did make a hat.  I'll get pictures of those before I give them.

When I listened to podcasts no one had updated so I listed to a lot of Knit 1 Heart Too. Today is podcast day as well.  There is nothing new on that front so I'll move on to kdrama.

I finished The King of Dramas.  It's the story of a successful drama producer, Anthony, who makes things happen and gets it done.  He is very arrogant and full of himself.  In an attempt to get in one more product placement (worth a lot of money) he tricks a secondary writer into changing the script.  Since the air time is close once the new scene is filmed they have to rush it to the station for airing.  In the process there is an accident that sets Anthony up to be fired and he falls from grace.  After three years he's on the bottom and this is the story of his fight back with the young writer he had previously tricked.  There is the fight to get a time slot, the director, the actors, the funding just to name a few.  It's kind of a funny look at the inside of making dramas with a lot of jokes about common plots in dramas (not funny "haha" but funny as in "I see what you did there").  There were just so many little things that just made it wonderful.  The last few episodes wile really good were not as good as the rest of the show.  It has a good ending but not exactly the way I was expecting it to go.  I recommend it.

Since I finished that I wanted to watch Personal Taste but it wasn't coming up on Hulu even though it's supposed to be there.  I'm still going to try to watch it but I watched the first episode of That Winter Wind Blows.  It's very different and if I keep watching it I'll write more about it then.

I think that's it for this very kdrama heavy blog post.  I feel like there was something else I planned to say but how many times have I said that before? It's raining but at least it's not snowing like some people had this morning.  See you next time.

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

Since I forgot to take a picture before I mailed the secret project I used the one from Lisajedi (Ravelry name) when she said she received it.  She collected everything and sent it on.  The little totoro is easy to recognize, but the square I'm really disappointed with. There was discussion about using acrylic or cotton because there is a wool sensitivity in the house.  I thought other people would be using cotton so I was trying to match.  It's two strands held together and the yarn was really splitty (if that's a word).  It's mostly knit with some surface crochet to give the comic book panel look.  When I was tucking in the ends I cut one why to short.  Lisajedi is a Jedi (spell check wants that capitalized) because she made it work in the blanket.  The totoro has french knot eyes since it's for a baby.  The baby's older sister wanted to steal the totoro so that made me feel good.

I worked on the Shaelyn but not as much as I should have.  I'm going to work on it a lot today and hopefully be able to block it tomorrow or Friday.  I need to get it done.  I'm down to the last minute again.  Why do I always do this to myself?  When I finish I'll try and finish the scarf.  I did work on the baby blanket a little before bed but I didn't get much done.  I'll have at least one project off the needles soon and possibly two.

The King of Dramas was still good.  There are just a hundred little things like a dancing flower on the dash board of a run down truck or someone wearing a scarf with hearts on it to a secret meeting about a love scandal.  I think I just finished episode 15 and there are 18 so I'm almost done.  When I'm done I'll go back to Personal Preference (Personal Taste).  I watched about three episodes of it before and then got distracted.  I think, even though Lee Min Ho is in it, I will be a little disappointed after The King of Dramas.

I think I saw a male house finch. It looked brown like a sparrow but the head was red.  Not a bright ted but a red so brown it almost didn't look red.  Many of the pictures I saw on line the birds look poofy (for lack of a better word) but the one I saw was really sleek.  It was the only bird that was listed on What bird that was even close.  I think that was my only adventure.  I'll see you next time.

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Here is the sock I mentioned (socks actually).  I really wanted to cast on something new so I caved.  The yarn is the Zauberball I bought a wile back.  I've had so much trouble fitting socks.  They are either too big but fit my calf or fit my foot fine but I can't get it over my heel. This will have no pattern so I can watch stitch count and figure out what actually fits me.  So that I can keep track better I am doing them at the same time (which is why the picture looks so crazy.  I am knitting one from the outside and one from the inside of the ball.  They will be opposite but with this color I don't think it will matter. I started with 32 stitches and increased to 60.  I did both toes (on separate needles) and am now working on one foot.  When I have determined it's long enough I will do the other foot before I do the heel.  I want to try the "fish lips kiss" heel.  she had a lot of instructions on how to measure your foot properly so I will do that.  I'm really enjoying the project and am just doing a few rows here and there now since I have so many projects.

Because I cast the socks on on Sunday and took time away from the mittens I finished the last pair on yesterday and didn't have a chance to work on the Shaelyn till later in the day.  I'm making that up today and will work on the scarf later, after lunch.  I need to get these projects finished before Saturday. A coworker of my husband has gone on maternity leave.  I have the yarn and meant to make her a baby blanket an I just haven't gotten around to it. I worked on it last night before bed and in two hours got it almost half done.  It will be my regular crochet blanket.  The secret project arrived at it's destination so I can talk about it now.  One of the women on the Shady Cels team was pregnant and we sent her a baby shower in a box kind of thing.  A few of us made squares for a baby blanket, some people sent sweaters and I made a little white Totoro.  If I can find a picture I will show it next time.  The baby is here as well and doing just fine.

I watched a lot of podcasts yesterday.  Steve and Callie (Dramatic Knits) were talking about all their pregnant coworkers and all the baby blankets they plan to make and Steve said, "Lets stop talking about this before one of us ends up pregnant."  I laughed.  Skein after Skein finally put up their episode that they recorded back in April.  They had some notes on what is going on and that the show may be taking a break for a wile.  Michelle is having some work and emotional stress and Eve is pregnant...with twins...due at the end of the month.  Yeah that would be why she's tired.  As someone else said, she kept that quiet.  So we will have to see what direction Skein after Skein takes because I don't think Eve will have energy for a wile and, wile I like kids, they do make things more complicated.  I finally got Knitting Butterflies to work.  Today I'll watch The King of Dramas after I watch this week's Running Man.

I think that's all for today.  It's kind of chilly and rainy so I'm sleepy.  My husband is coming home for lunch so I can make him ramen, it's a good day for it.  I guess I should say good-by for today and go do house work.  See you next time.

Monday, May 12, 2014

My daughter took this picture yesterday.  A mother's day rainbow.  I hope you can see it, it's kind of fading away.

On Saturday we didn't make it to the farmer's market but we did go out to buy the supplies for Amey's music project.  She is going to make drums by cutting cardboard tubes in sections and using balloons for the top.  We found out that at Low's they have the tubes that the carpet comes on and they will just give it to you.  My husband picked the shortest one and it still didn't fit in the car so he went back in and bought a $4 saw to cut it to fit it in.  The four pack of big balloons we $2 so the whole project was less that $10 even if we include gas.  After buying some sandals we went out to eat.  We tried a new to us Chinese buffet and it was pretty good.  My daughter is pretty good at eating with chopsticks.

On Sunday I made mittens and watched The King of Dramas.  The thing I thought was a start of romance wasn't at all.  It's still a really good show.  I asked the girls on Ravelry and they weren't sure there was anything else like it. There is a new drama coming out next week that looks good.  It's called Yoo-na's Street.  It's about a family of pickpockets and the good boy that moves next door to them.  The drama beans article says they aren't sure if it will be a romantic comedy or a hist drama but it seems like it will be fun. My husband and I also watched some Psych and a new to us show called Royal Pains (both are US shows).

I also cast on socks, I'll talk about those later. Today is podcast day and I'll work on my Shaelyn.  It looks lies a storm is coming in so I guess that's it for tonight.  I'll see you next time.

Saturday, May 10, 2014

Progress on the Trillian doesn't show up so much on a white background.  I should have measured it so you could tell how long it has gotten.  I tried really hard not to pick out the tweed but I failed.  I didn't pick it all out just the loose stuff.  I'm really not a tweed fan.

Yesterday I worked on the sleeves a little.  I'm up to 21".  It's just not an exciting project for me.  I really want to cast something new on but I'm being good.  I'm trying to push myself to finish something so I can cast on something new, sort of like a bribe.

I still can't get Knitting Butterflies to work so I think I'm giving up.  I'm over episode 60 with Knit 1 Heart Too.  Listening to all these podcasts is making my queue grow, that's why I want to cast so many things on.  Today I'll play WOW.

Since I wrote so late yesterday I don't really have anything else interesting to say.  Another warm and beautiful day today so I can't complain.  See you next time.

Friday, May 9, 2014

This is the Shaelyn so far.  It's grown a bit.  I added a new ball and finished four of the lace repeats but not the stockinette part.  Most people seem to do five repeats sot that's what I'm aiming for and we'll see after that.  It looks all squished up on the cord and my scarf was on a tiny cord (I could barely knit) so I found a longer cord for the Shaelyn and gave that cord to the scarf, it's much better now.

I didn't mean to skip yesterday.  I felt like I was forgetting something but that feeling isn't unusual.  On Wednesday I worked on the Shaelyn and made some decent progress. Yesterday I worked on the scarf but didn't really make any progress outside of  joining a new ball.

I listened to podcasts on Wednesday.  I don't remember anything particular except I still can't get Knitting Butterflies to work.  Yesterday I watched The King of Dramas.  I just finished episode 11 and I still really like it.  The romance part is just starting so this should be interesting.

Nerd Wars is changing it's name.  It will be Geek Noosphere (Google knows the word even if spell check doesn't).  Apparently that word means something along the lines of "all human thought."  The leader said she changed the name for a few reasons.  1. There are other things called nerd wars and she wanted something with a unique name.  2. We are more geeks than nerds.  3. She wanted to create a community and "wars" was not really a community building word.  She obviously put a lot of thought into it but it is much harder to say.  Of course with any change you have people who are not happy so we'll see how this all shakes out.  I think it will help that most things are the same just the name is different.

I drove my neighbor around yesterday and today I volunteered at the school.  Tomorrow we need to get the pieces for Amey's music project and maybe some other shopping (I really want to get to the farmers market because I missed it lat week).  We may also try out a new to us Chinese buffet, we haven't gone out as a family in a wile.  Other than that it's another beautiful day so I'll see you next time, hopefully not so late.

I don't really have any new progress on things so here are some baby mitts.  I have been working on things but the Trillian, my husband's sweater sleeves and the scarf don't really look any different just longer.  That's not really interesting, I think.

Yesterday I worked on the sleeves of doom.  At last measure they were 20", at 22" I need to mark it.  I probably didn't make as much progress as I could have if I was't reading subtitles.  The other problem was I accidentally knit one row with the wrong yarn and had to "tink" back and fix it.  I was being so careful, I haven't done that in over 10".  It's just not a fun knit for me.  I think I will do better working on the Shaelyn today.

Because of the ferry boat tragedy (which I'm not going to talk about or it will make me sad) South Korea suspended all the drama shows for at least a week.  The funny ones like Running Man were even longer so it just came back this week.  I'm glad to see it back as I think (at least some) laughter is part of the healing process.  On the down side the episode was not the best.  In this one and the last one (a two-parter) they played a mafia vs. civilians game and a lot of it was them sitting around guessing who was mafia. It lacked the running, chasing, ripping off name tags that make Running Man fun.  Next week looks like it will be more fun.

I'm still really enjoying The King of Dramas.  I don't really know what it is about this show that really hooked me more than other ones.  I think it was the first time I saw Go Eun (played by Jung Ryeo Won). Something about her reminds me of my sisters or something. I'm not sure what it is I just really like the character.  They were just getting everything together and now they are going to have a lack of money.  They just can't catch a break but that's the point.  If there was no conflict it would be boring.

The weather is really nice right now.  I really like spring.  The only "news" is that I got a view from Sweden, I don't think I've had one from there before.   Other that that everything is just the same around here.  I'll see you next time.

The scarf looks a little messy but there is only so much you can do with that yarn.  It looks better in real life than it does in the picture.  I'm not the biggest fan of burgundy but if seems to be everywhere.  My husband's sweater, the scarf and the edging for the Shaelyn.  Today I will be working on my husband's sweater.

I listed to podcasts yesterday, mostly Knit 1 Heart Too.  I think I'm up to episode 56 which is about May 2012.  Even though Wendy gave me the link to the episodes that were missing I still couldn't get two of them to work.  Missing two is better than missing ten or eleven.  I tried to get Knitting Butterflies to work but it just wouldn't play for me.  Skein after Skein seems to be taking a break, I hope they come back soon.  Not much new on the podcast front just getting inspired to make lots of things.

Yesterday was nice and sunny but it clouded over a bit toward evening.  Between that and the fact the kids needed to sleep so they could get up for school we didn't look for any meteors.  We did see ducks the other day.  There was a pair of mallards that were standing by the side of the road getting ready to cross the street to the golf course.  We have also seen killdeer neat the golf course and my daughter said she could hear doves this morning so they may be back nesting in the bush outside the window.   That's all I have, see you next time.

Here is the Shaelyn so far.  I just worked on it until I ran out of the first little ball I had (a partial skein).  I think it will be fine.  If I just just keep working on it till near the 17th (the secret sister reveal) and put a red edge on it it will be good.  I was afraid it would be small but if I can get one more ball in it, it will be good (granted if I can get more it will be even better).  This is of course unblocked so it will grow a little more.  I think I may do this again in a worsted weight for a giant warm shawl.  Today I will work on the scarf and if I finish the first ball I will go on to the never ending sleeves of my husband's sweater.

I did play WOW on Saturday.  I got my level 89 past the quest she was having so much trouble with so now I'm in a new area I haven't been in before.  The down side of WOW is I didn't know it was children't week till it was too late.  About once a month there is a week long event where you have specific tasks and can get specific rewards and achievements.  If you do the listed ones all year long you can get an achievement called "Long Strange Trip" and you get a purple mount.  I have them all done except two for Children's Week.  If I had known last week was Children's week I would have worked on them so I could be done with it.  Now I will have to wait a whole year to try again.  Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but a bit of a bummer.

On Sunday I watched more of The King of Dramas.  The office manager from Let's Eat is in it. The dad from ... Alice is in it as well. I love Anthony’s cloths, he always dresses so well. I know it’s product placement but I love all the Marvel stuff around Hyun Min’s (second leading man) apartment. It really goes to his mental state of sill being kind if a kid.  I love how Go Eun is idealistic but not exactly innocent, she has some spunk to her. She even beats up some muggers wile drunk. I like that the road manager’s name is Kwan Soo like Running Man.  It just seems to be a lot of little pieces that fit together really well. I also started a list of dramas I have watched and want to watch on my drama list.  It looks like it could be a real time suck where you just get caught up researching different actors, dramas, and movies.  I'll play with it more and see what I think.

Today is sunny and my son actually asked to go outside, usually he's more of a home body.  There is supposed to be a nice meteor shower tonight so I'm trying to decide if I should keep my kids up to see it.  If if gets cloudy we wont see anything at all.  I'll let you know how that goes next time.  That's all for today.

Look at our May picture.  It's green!  I thought the trees would be greener but not yet.

Yesterday I worked on the scarf.  It's in Lion Brand Chenille Sensations yarn which is a chenille texture (as the name suggests.  I really wanted to make the pattern called Palindrome which is a cabled scarf but it just didn't look good. I'm doing "My Garter Slipped Scarf (free on Ravelry) which as the name says is slip stitches and looks much better.  It's quite and easy pattern and I think I will only need four balls to make it.  Today I want to play WOW (if it works) so I won't get anything done and tomorrow is charity knitting.

I listened to podcasts yesterday.  I had a lot of trouble with A Homespun House.  The video kept freezing so I mostly listened to that one.  I think I'm on episode 45 of Knit 1 Heat Too and it's still fun.

The thing that is bothering me right now is that school districts in general do not have enough money to have a nurse on staff all day every day.  At my kids school the nurse splits her time between two schools.  This is not new.  I know when I was growing up it was the same way.  It falls to the secretaries then to deal with sickness and injury.  When I was at the school there was a little girl there who has diabetes and she was checking her blood.  The little girl says to the secretary "80 isn't low, anything below 80 is low."
Which prompted the secretaries to discuss what should be done since lunch was still and hour and a half away.  I think they were going to give her some Pepsi just to get her through till lunch I don't know because I didn't stay in the office.  It's shouldn't be their job though, and if something goes wrong they will get in trouble.  This is why I give them a box of chocolate at Christmas and the end of the year.  I don't want to leave this on a sad note I just wanted to get my frustration out.

Today is Free Comic Book Day.  Many local comic book stores give out free comics and other things as promotions.  The comics are ones from comic book companies that are specific for this one day.  My kids also got a free t-shirt for the show Arrow and a little rubber bracelet.  They had many comics for $1 but you really have to dig through a lot.  They had people there dressed as Spider Man, Dead Pool, Harley Quinn, and Electra.  Many people also came dressed up.  I did take some picture on my phone of the kids with Spider Man and Dead Pool but my phone doesn't talk to my computer.  We had a fun time I just wish we had more money.

I wrote this 5/3 but didn't realize I didn't post it so here it is a little late.

I don't have any new pictures so here is an old one of the baby mitts I sent to Pine Ridge Reservation.  By the time the kids got home from school I knew I was forgetting something but I couldn't figure it out, so no May 1st picture. Today I drive my friend around so we won't be able to do it today.  The plan is to take it on tomorrow before we go to the comic book store for "Free Comic Book Day."

I worked on the shawl but I didn't make very much progress.  My numbers keep getting off.  If worse comes to worse I'll give her something else but I want to at least try.  Today I'll try and cast on the scarf again. The Trillian will come with me today in case I have some waiting to do.

I'm really enjoying The King of Dramas.  It's not funny like Running man but there are little odd lines or situations.  I was reading the Dramabeans recaps and one of them said something to the effect that it didn't matter if this couple got together romantically since they are so fun to watch and I agree.  The story is interesting enough that I'm not looking for a romance.  I really love Lee Go Eun  from the moment I saw her.  She is pretty but solidly normal with a little steel in her.  He mother is awesome.

It's still rainy but I'm feeling better, I don't know what that downess was about.  We are looking forward to free comic book day tomorrow and I may play WOW as well.  I think that's it, see you next time.

This is what I made yesterday.  My daughter took the picture on the "toy camera" setting, I really like it.  This was supposed to be a little toy that my son could keep in his pocket and squeeze if he felt scared or uncomfortable. Because of this I gave it a "heart."  I took a red pony bead and wrote "LOVE" on it in permanent marker and put it in with the stuffing.   I made it from the left overs of the Solar Flair yarn held double like the hat.  I could have gone down a size because it came out just a bit too big (on Ravelry I have a picture with my son in it for scale).  I'll make him another one later that's smaller.

I didn't mean to skip yesterday I just felt "off."  I think a lot of it has to do with the rainy weather. I was feeling down and got a sinus headache.  Neither were bad so I could just push through but I also didn't want to craft and felt restless.  When this happens I know something is wrong.  I took a nap and felt better after but that threw the whole day off.  I feel better today so maybe I just needed a little sleep.

On Tuesday I worked on the Shaelyn but had to rip a bunch out.  Wile the patter is not hard it is a bit difficult to do wile you are trying to read subtitles.  I made a few mistakes so I "tinked" back and will work on it again today.  After I made the little mameshiba toy yesterday I worked on my husband's sleeve again.  They were just about 20" at last count.  I thought I only had to go to 24" but I have to go to 26". (sigh) I'm still working on my Trillian at night and if I'm waiting some where.  That pattern says to work till you have 7% of your yarn left then start the border.  I don't have a scale so I'll just have to count out the yards, when I get closer, and tie them off in some way to let me know when to stop.  The Shaelyn is at the top of my priorities and then the scarf I had to rip out that I will cast on again soon.

I finished Cheongdamdong Alice.  It's about a poor girl (Han Se Kyungthat realizes no matter how hard she works she will alwys be poor so she looks for a way to break into the rich society (Cheongdamdong neighborhood). Se Kyung finds an old high school rival who has done this and bribes her into helping Se Kyung do the same. Mean wile the very damaged Cha Seung Jo falls in love with the idealistic Se Kyung and doesn't realize she has changed.  He is very rich but pretends he is not at first and Se Kyung starts to fall for him but pushes him away for her goals.  Of course he eventually reveals the real him and she wants to confess as well but is told not to by various people.  Of course with a lie that big the relationship is doomed and it's really painful to watch because everyone seems to be doing the wrong things for the wrong reasons.  There is a lot of crying but on some level it works out in the end.  It's not that I didn't like it but it was not really what I was looking for. I really wanted something funnier and this was not at all.  There is one good kiss in the show.  Usually there is that weird drama kiss where they press their lips together, with a surprised expression.  This one was a real kiss.

I realized something about dramas that I never really thought about.  The sets are built in giant warehouses that aren't really heated.  Even though the scene is supposed to be indoors sometimes you can still see their breath.  It makes me think more of the actors. I don't know if I could be that cold and act at the same time.  Since I finished ... Alice I was going to watch Faith but I was watching that one with my husband and so I needed one I could watch alone. I chose The King of Drama.  The kdrama girls on Ravelry consider it a level 201 drams (to use a college course term).  A drama that you don't show to beginners, one that you need to have watched a few to really get.  I counted it up and I have watched twelve Korean dramas start to finish and one Taiwanese drama not to count all the one's I've seen just a few episodes of.   I think I qualify, also it looks funny.  I watched the first fifteen minutes and I laughed a few times.  Watching that is the plan for today.

Yesterday I watched some podcasts.  There were about ten episodes of  Knit 1 Heart Too that wouldn't work.  I messaged Wendy and she found them for me.  It was so nice of her to do that for me.  I am now into 2012 for that podcast and as of yesterday had caught up will all may other ones (one or two might come out today).  I'm really enjoying Knit 1 Heart Too so I will join the group once I get caught up.

It's May 1st so we are supposed to get a picture today.  I'll have to see how the weather is when the kids get home from school I may have to post pone it till tomorrow or even the weekend.  Tomorrow I'll be running errands so I may not blog but I'll try.  I'll see you next time, hopefully with a May picture.
