I am so sorry I haven't blogged. I've been feeling a bit under the weather and I keep forgetting. I'll try and remember to have a nice post tomorrow.

This is the finished Tour de Fleece yarn. It measured to be 600 yds. That seem really high compared to what I usually do. Now that TDF is over I think I will avoid spinning for a wile. I will show a picture of the finished shawl next time. I did a double crochet edge to bind off. I ended up with less than five yards left so I think I did well. I'm stuck on the cupcake because I ran out of the chocolate color yarn. I worked on the socks and turned the heel on one of them. It seems to fit but it's also pulling so I think I will need to add stitches. And lastly I worked on my charity knitting. I finished the project but now it's time to weave in the ends. bla. Now that this is all written out I see I have worked on a lot of thing even if it doesn't seem like it. I even entered the shawl and they yarn in a bunch of "finished object" threads and Geek Noosphere. Until I get more brown yarn I'll work on my socks and pull out the Totoros.
I listened to a lot of podcasts and I got caught up on In a Sknit and joined their group. It wasn't hard to catch up because they only have 22 episodes. The new podcast is Yarnivore. I can see why so many people like Sadie, she is so funny. I think I'm going to really enjoy listening to all her episodes. She also has a music theme so I think I may hear some new bands since she is Canadian.
I think the last thing is that I found a dyer that lives in the same town as my mom. I think I'm going to have to buy from her since she is "local." I think that's it. I always fell like I have more to say but then I go to type and it gets shortened. I'll see you next time.

Last night I finished plying the yarn. I don't have a picture because it's hanging outside drying. The picture is a polwarth fiber I got when I was in The Painted Tiger fiber club back in April 2011. It looks a little felty (it's a word) because I didn't treat it well, it was much nicer when I got it originally. I finished the shawl as well but I didn't block it yet. I'm going to spin a little then I'll work on the cupcake. So many projects. lol
I've just been watching a lot of In A Sknit. Last night we had a movie party as well. We watched Puss in Boots and Oz the Great and Powerful. Puss in Boots was o.k. but not my thing. You could tell they had fun with Oz... but if you have read/watched The Wizard of OZ you knew in the end of that story is that he is an old, lonely man so that makes it harder for me to enjoy it.
My biggest frustration right now is that my son chews on wood. He has ruined more than one spindle so I wanted to buy a new one but it seems the company that I bought my favorite ones from has gone out of business. I have more spindles but they aren't as nice or well made. That's it for today. I don't mean to leave it on a sad note but it's o.k., really. I'll see you next time.

Day 18, wow. I was really trying to get it all on one spindle but I really couldn't. I'm starting a new spindle today. I'm almost done and I may actually get it done in time. I worked a little on my shawl but I had a tiny problem. I had the yarn kind of all divided out so I could see how much I had left and know where to start the edge. Unfortunately I had it lying on the bed and my son bounced on the bed and messed it all up. I'll still be able to figure it out but I was upset for a bit. I forgot to say that I got a great idea for my socks from In a Sknit. Sarah said she changes needle sizes and I think I might do that. The foot will be on a US size 1 and I can do the leg on size 2. That could make the difference. I'll think about it some more.
Yesterday I finished catching up on High School King of Savvy. I don't know how I feel about the love between them. There is a ten year age difference so I have a hard time cheering for them. This is a drama that I feel like the problem is a real one. The dramas where it's a misunderstanding or family troubles are not as heart breaking to me. There was a scene in the rain where I almost cried and Seo In Guk did a really good acting job at the end of episode 12. He just had a look on his face (the body posture and music probably helped) that really made me feel for him. We'll see where it goes from here.
The other thing I watched was the first two episodes of It's Okay, That's Love. It's very interesting. The first episode starts in a jail and ends with two people passed out in a field. That doesn't seem like a romantic comedy but it is. The writing and filming are really good. It is kind of funny that I have only seen Jo In Sung in one other thing and he gets stabbed in the first episode of both dramas. There were other little funny things like there was a scene where everyone was sitting around watching Running Man. Another one is when Jae Yeol (In Sung) calls his mom and asks what she is doing. She says "watching some drama" and it's That Winter, the Wind Blows. The drama has a lot of potential.
Sadly today is kind of rainy and yucky so we didn't go swimming. We are planning to do that on Monday when my husband is off work so he can go too. We are going to have a pizza and movie party tonight. I feel kind of bad for my daughter because she was really sad about not going. I guess that's it for today. See you next time.
Thursday, July 24, 2014
Here is the very late July picture. The golf tournament was going on so we just couldn't get it, then we kept forgetting. The grass really isn't dry, it's just brown because that's where the tent/ pavilion was set up. Hopefully we can get an August picture in a more decent amount of time.
I've been plying like crazy. I really wanted to get it all on one spindle but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to. It's getting really heavy and full. For a wile it felt like the spindle was getting fuller and fuller but the ball wasn't getting smaller but now I feel like I'm making progress. I didn't work on the shawl at all but I think I may have an idea about what I want to do for the border.
We did some sewing yesterday. My son sort of made and pillowcase. Mostly he just pushed the pedal. When he made the draw string bag I feel like he did more on his own. My daughter was working on a skirt. I had to help her with it because it's really cheap cotton and I think it will fray like crazy without french seams. You need to sew really straight for that and she can't yet. Wile she was working on the hem the bobbin ran out of thread so we called it quits and will work on it more later.
I watched Running Man yesterday. All the guests were women and every single one was a spitfire. There were a lot of funny bits but I still miss the name tag ripping. They played a game of "basketball" that really didn't resemble basketball at all except it has baskets. I worked on getting caught up on High School King of Savvy. The couple is so cute to the point of being sickening. Sadly (well we knew it was coming) the secret has been revealed and everyone is sad. A new drama has also come out that I want to see call It's Okay, That's Love. It has the same actor in it as That Winter... and Kwang Soo, it looks like it will be funny. It started airing this week so it should be translated soon.
That's it for around here. Nothing exciting and a beautiful summer day. We have swimming plans for tomorrow and maybe a pizza and movie party for Saturday. I'll see you next time.

Plying for day 16. It really feels like it's taking forever. I think this might be why I only spin around Tour de Fleece, I get so burned out I don't want to spin for a wile. It would be faster with a wheel but there is a big price difference so it's not something I'm just going to run out and buy. The shawl is turning out fine and I'm getting near the end. The thing I have to decide now is how to end it. I want to do something nice but I'm not sure what. I kind of want to make a crochet edge but I I'm not sure how much yarn it will use. I'll keep thinking about it. I have a few rows before I have to make a decision.
I started watching In a Sknit. I picked it to be next because the girls are from Illinois and so am I though they are a bit farther south and nearer the Missouri border. They are kind of new to podcasting and only have a handful of episodes out. The only "problem" I have with the podcast is that they are Cardinal's fans. I grew up in Chicago and so I'm a Cubs fan by default (not that I really pay attention to baseball). It is possible that I may meet them some day if I go to any events in Illinois. Today the plan is to get caught up on kdrama and spin as much as possible. .
I would really like to go to the Bishop Hill Fiber Guild Spin-in in October. It's about an hour and a half from here and I kind of don't want to drive by myself. I wish I knew someone local that was into fiber that would go with me. I was thinking of taking my daughter but she says she doesn't want to go. I know lots of people who are into fiber (on Ravelry) but most of those people live out of state. I would like to go back to the knit night at the yarn store but my husband has been getting off work later on Fridays.
I think that's it. I need to go back to Amey and her homework. It's not hard she is just over thinking it and stressing herself out. Maybe later the kids and I can do some sewing as well. I'll see next time.

Here is the shawl I've been working on. The yarn is undyed but looks yellow on the white background. You can see the beads in the ball but not really in the shawl. It's just a garter stitch with three stitches for a border. I started plying yesterday but I thought I should break up the spinning pictures. I really need to get this plying done but it feels like it will take forever. It may get a little faster now that the singles are a little thicker.
I listened to and caught up on all the podcasts that had a new episode out. I also finished all the episodes of the Knit 1 Heart Too so today I started In a Sknit. I joined the Knit 1 Heart Too group so now they will added to my list to check every week. Tomorrow all the kdrama shows I watch should be translated so I'll try to catch up.
We have been doing o.k. with our home work and chores but not so much on the exercise. Today we made duct tape bags following a pattern we found in a free ebook on amazon. The pattern wasn't hard or anything but it was time consuming and a little tedious at times. My son's turned out the size of a purse and my daughter's turned out long and shallow. Tomorrow I think we may try sewing again. I'm still trying to get some swimming, the park and more Letter Boxing in before the end of the summer. School starts in one month.
My sister, K, is actually in Sipan right now (it's a little island near Guam). She got a job at a hotel there for six moths with an option to stay if they like her work after that. She has asked for letters and has sent postcards out. We wrote her some postcards but haven't had a chance to mail them because I don't have any stamps. Amey and I got postcards but Mooky didn't. I think his is just lost in the mail but he ran to his bedroom crying that Aunt K didn't love him.
Writing postcards made me miss when we used to do Postcrossing. We got and sent postcards all over the world and I have a photo album full of the postcards. I would love to do it again but I stopped because of the price. We used to be able to send a post card anywhere with a first class stamp (about .45 at the time) but there was a rate change and even though it was only a postcard if it was going overseas it was 1.10. That was a big difference and just too much of an expense.
I guess that's it after all my rambling. I'll see you next time.

Here is the plying ball that I made yesterday. I'm getting really tired of spinning. The yarn is going to be really thin at this end. The yarn will probably be fine when I finish but the size is different from the other part I spun. Sadly I'm sitting weird and it hurts my back. I ripped out the shawl and am making it again a little different. I really like it and it's a nice break from the spinning (plying). The Tour de Fleece (France) is done on the 27th so no matter what I will be taking a break from spinning. I do still have the cupcake and the socks to make.
I've been watching lots of Knit 1 Heart Too and have about one more months worth and I will be caught up. On Sunday we went out for steak for my husband's 40th birthday and it was really tasty. My silly little make up rant can apply to anything else. There are always at least two sides and it's not fair to be judged by one side or the other. I think of all sorts of thing and they are so eloquent in m head but when I try to type them they never come out quite right. There isn't anything else interesting happening around here. Tomorrow I plant to watch some kdrama and that's about it. I'll see you next time.

I finished the singles. The last few inches were terrible because my hands were sweating and the wool was felting. The job today is to wind off all the singles onto a a ball winder. It's a very slow process because I don't have a lazy kate so I have to do it by hand. I can't unwind it too much or it will get tangled. Once I finish that I will take an end from the outside of the cake and one from the inside and make a plying ball. My hand spun that I have made recently I my yarn has come out kind of stiff and hard. I have two theories as to why this is. The first is that there is too much tension on the yarn when I ply and I think making a plying ball will fix this. The other problem I think my be my finishing. I usually just let time take care of setting the twist but I think washing and/or soaking will help as well. I'll let you know how it works. I haven't worked on the socks or the cupcake but I really wanted to cast on something new that was mindless. About two years ago I made a yarn that was beaded and I wanted to use it. I found a patter I thought it would work but because the beads are actually in the yarn they sometimes fall to the back of the shawl. I'm trying to decide if I should keep going and just not care if the beads are on the back or look for another patter. I'll let you know what I decide.
I have just been watching tons of Knit 1 Heart Too right now. After Tour de Fleece (France) I think I may have a WOW marathon. I'll try to go back to kdrama next week. We went to a birthday party for a little three year old and even though I just sat and watched the kids play I got really tired. I feel better a now that I'm home. I'm sure I'm o.k. but it was really weird. I guess that's about it. I'll talk to you next week.

Day 12! I passed some orange and I don't have much left. I was hoping to get it done today but I don't think I will. I'm kind of getting tired of spinning and I was having some soreness the other day. I'm sure it will be a little better when I get to plying. The socks are to the point were I have to really concentrate for the heel so I probably won't be able to work on it anytime soon. I'm trying to clear off a table in my room so I can make it a nice craft space. Sorry, I haven't done any other crafts to talk about.
I listened to Knit 1 Heart Too yesterday. I really want to get caught up and I'm up to February this year so I'm not that far behind. I'm just not feeling like I want to watch kdrama right now. I do want to play WOW but I can't really craft and play at the same time. I'm still reading but that's about it. I may try to rag roll my hair tonight it depends on how tired I am. I guess I'm not very interesting but that could be o.k., exciting might not be the fun kind. Now I'm just rambling so I'll see you later and maybe there will only be one more spinning day with this yarn.
Thursday, July 17, 2014
This is the day 11 spin. There was an interesting peach color that got covered up. I feel like I'm finally getting to the end of fiber. I really haven't been doing anything more than the spinning. I was kind of wondering why and I figured out that with the kids home I'm doing less in general but also I've been reading before bed instead of knitting or crochet. I'm reading Kalahari Typing School for Men which is the fourth book in the #1 Ladies' Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith. I think you aren't going to see much besides the spinning for a wile.
I forgot to talk about Running Man. I did watch it and it was o.k. but not great. There was some funny bits at the beginning but it was fairly predictable. They used the Little Prince/ French Village that always makes me think of Joong Ki. I kind of haven't been in the mood for kdrama. I was going to watch High School King of Savvy but everyone was saying that it's very emotional so I think I'll weight till next week. I wanted to watch Absolute Boyfriend but there is something with the adds that makes it hard to try to watch. An add for some weird game shows up directly over the play button and I haven't been able to figure out how to get it to close (but I haven't tried very hard). Yesterday I caught up on all my podcasts that had new episodes.
The weather is still nice but school is coming soon. The stores are starting to put out school supplies and registration is at the end of the month. There isn't really anything else to say so I'll see you next time.
Wednesday, July 16, 2014
Yesterday was a rest day for Tour de France (and Fleece) but since I have taken a few days off already I spun this yesterday. I think I said I was starting on a new spindle but I don't think I showed it before. I finally feel like I am making some progress and will be done with the singles soon. When I finish them I will wind the singles off the spindle with a skein winder, then I will make a two ply starting with each end. I really haven't been doing anything else besides spinning. I haven't even been working on my socks. Maybe I'll work on it some tonight.
We really haven't been doing anything else around here. My husband turned 40 but we didn't really do anything for him. He doesn't like cake (well frosting) and on top of that last year for Christmas he got himself a PS4 and that is kind of his present for all gift giving holidays till next Christmas. We are supposed to be going out for steak on Sunday for his birthday. His friend is taking him out for steak on Saturday as well so he is happy about having steak two days in a row. I don't think I have anything else to say. I'll see you next time.
Monday, July 14, 2014
Here is the Trillian. It's really hard to photograph because it's so long. It turned out 69 x 12 so it is definitely more of a scarf than a shawl. I worked on Charity knitting yesterday and today I'm back to the spinning but I'm not making much progress. I still need to fix the socks and work on the cupcake. Not that I think I will finish the spinning but if I do I have the next fiber ready.
I've been listening to a lot of Knit 1 Heart Too and I have reached the swants (spell check is not going to like that word). Steven West is a knit wear designer (his designs are hit and miss for me) and he got it in his head to make sweater pant (swants). Now he doesn't knit these but looks for sweaters in second hand stores then cuts and sews them to be pants. Basically you put your legs in the sweater upside down and your legs go in the arm holes. You cut out the neck and sew the hole closed so you now have pants, you can look them up if you are really curious. For some reason this odd thing kind of went viral last year around Christmas (they were even on the Today show). Wendy, from Knit 1 Heart Too was teasing another podcaster that he should make some and somehow that morphed into her making some for herself if people donated to charity. She even made a video of herself dancing around in them with "coming attraction" movie style labels like, "Other pants fear her." It was really funny and I think it's still out there on Youtube somewhere. I think I only have one more episode then I'm caught up to 2014.
I don't want to "rant" but I have some not really thought out thoughts. I've been watching a lot of make up tutorial videos because I find them fun. I think putting on make up is fun, like a craft project for your face. You get to play with colors and change your whole look with just a lipstick. I don't do it often because it takes time and lets face it I'm to lazy. When I do wear it I get these odd comment like "Wow you make up looks good." It's a compliment I know, but it's weird. It's as if they think that because I don't wear it often I'm going to look like a clown when I do wear it, so it feels a little off. Maybe they are just surprised that I'm wearing it and have nothing better to say. There seems to be a lot of people I know that seem to feel that make up is a waste of time and money and that you should just be o.k. with being you. You should be o.k. with being you but, putting on make up does not mean you are trying to be someone else or hiding your real self. What's wrong with using a little color on your face to show the world you are in a good mood? Now I'm sure there are people who go over board, spend money they can't afford on cosmetics, refuse to go out till the look perfect, fell like they are "less than" without their face made up but, you can't paint everyone with the same brush (hehe). There is the other side too. Women who wear make up are thought of as more put together and tend to get more money and promotions. I think there was even a woman who got fired, a few years ago, for not wearing make up. That's not right either. There should be a middle ground where people can just be them selves without being judged by one side of the other. O.k. that is the end of my silly lecture on the merits of make up.
You can tell there isn't much going on if I am sitting here thinking about people's opinions on cosmetics. We went shopping today so nothing other than that got done (well besides regular chores). I did try to do a ombre (I don't know how to make the accent mark above the "e") effect on my daughters nails. It turned out o.k. but I went outside the lines a lot. I want to try it again on me it looks really cool. The "trick" is many layers of nail polish. I think that's it for today. I'll see you next time.

Look how full this spindle is. It's over 400 yds of a two play, all together I have over 1300 yds. At the end of this I'll post a picture of all three skeins together. I can't remember when I spun it but it's done now. I started doing my pink for TDF on that spindle. I worked on the socks a lot. I did the heel and it was way to small. The heel wasn't hard ( a little fiddly at first) but the foot of the sock was too short so even with the heel it barely went to the end of my heel. The pattern suggested putting in a life line and I did so it was easy to rip back to the start of the heel. I'm making the foot about an inch longer then I will try the heel again. Next time I make socks I want to try another toe. I did block and take pictures of the Trillian so I can put a picture of that next time. It's a little frustrating to have to rip out so much knitting.
I just watched a lot of Knit 1 Heat Too yesterday. We haven't done anything else interesting this week. The golf tournament ends tomorrow so we should do more things next week. I've been watching a bunch of make up videos just for fun. I finished Morality For Beautiful Girls, that is the third book int the #1 Ladies Detective Agency books. I think that's it. Maybe I'll be more interesting nest time. See you then.
Friday, July 11, 2014
Here is day 6. I know I skipped day 5 but it's kind of just more of the same. I cleaned off another spindle so I can start working with that one because this one is getting heavy. Next time I'll show the really stuffed spindle I cleaned off. I'm still working on the socks and I'm supposed to do the heel now so I'm a bit nervous. We'll see, if worse comes to worse my daughter will have a new pair a socks. I'll to block the Trillian tomorrow so I may have lots of pictures coming up.
We went to the library today to finish off the summer reading program. I know it's probably expensive but it's only half way through the summer so it feels weird for the program to be ending already. I've been having weird little issues with my computer so I had trouble playing WOW. We did really well in the beginning of the week but have now kind of fallen off the wagon a bit. The golf tournament is still going on so until it;s over I really don't want to go anywhere. There are just so many people walking where there are no sidewalks. They also set up a tent at the entrance but it blocks being able to see if anyone is at the stop sign. The only other sad thing is the my size 1 needle poked through my project bag. I know it's not a big thing but it was a bit of a problem. I think that's it, not much to say. I'm just hoping the socks turn out well. See you next time.
Wednesday, July 9, 2014
Here is my day 4 spinning. I feel like I got a lot more done. I still have tons to go though. I finished the Trillian. I'll post a picture when it's blocked. I finished the first part of the cup cake. My daughter said it looks like a scoop of ice cream. I cast on something new as well. There is a free patter I found that makes squares out of left over sock yarn to make a blanket. I've been having fun with that an it makes me want to make lots more things so I can have left overs. The last thing I was working on was the socks. I am trying to follow the "Fish Lips Kiss Heal" by Sox Therapist ($1 on Ravelry) and I'm really nervous. She has this kind of complicated way to measure you foot and find out the right place to start the heel. I measured many times and I think I have the right numbers but I'm nervous. Since I'm doing both socks at the same time (on different needles) I stopped the one sock where I was supposed to start the heel and am getting the other sock to that point. Too many projects? Well probably but I kind of like it that way. I finally feel like I'm out of a rut and getting lots of things done.
I listened to podcasts yesterday. I caught up on most of them except Knitting Butterflies. It's not that I don't like that podcast it's that it takes forever to load. She put up two episodes almost back to back. I'll listen to those next time when I have time to just sit there and let it load for a wile. I really enjoyed listening to all the podcasts I just don't remember anything that stands out as new or important.
I have 2,000 views! That is so cool, to me anyway. We haven't done anything interesting this week but I have been getting my son outside for at lest fifteen minutes every day. I hope the TDF pictures aren't too boring, I know they kind of look the same every day. I guess that's all I have to say for today so see you later.
Tuesday, July 8, 2014
Here is the day 3 picture (I didn't spin on day 2). I doesn't look any different to me. I also had to spend fifteen minutes untangling it because my son played with it. I don't think he even knew he was playing with it just rolling something around that was in his reach. I'll have to keep better care of it. I started the border in the Trillian. I left out the increase stitch so it would be an odd number. Maybe I can finish that up tonight so I can concentrate on the cupcake. I think I missed a row on the cupcake but I don't think that will hurt it anything. I'm kind of a "fly by the seat of your pants" crafter.
Yesterday I played WOW. The biggest development was that I got to level 300 with my fishing. Not terrible exciting. Today is not going quite as well as yesterday but it's not bad. Yesterday my daughter got her expander out so this week, till they put more metal in her mouth, she can have all the food she wasn't allowed to have. She is excited to have sticky candy and we are having corn on the cob with dinner tonight. Isn't it such an exciting life I lead? I'll see you later.
Monday, July 7, 2014
This is what I did on Saturday for the first day of Tour de Fleece. It was something I had already started so I didn't do it all on Saturday just a bunch. I'll spin more today. I'm almost done with the Trillian. The problem I'm having is that it says to end on an odd number of stitches and I must have done something wrong because I have an even number on that side. Since you add one stitch per row there will always be even stitches on that side so I'll have to fudge it. I did charity knitting yesterday and I kind of didn't enjoy it. It's not that it's not a good project, it's more that dealing with a nice wool blend then switching to acrylic isn't much fun.
On Saturday I switched between WOW and watching old episodes of Knit 1 Hear 2. I'm exactly a year behind now. I plan to watch In a Snit next since they are from Illinois like me. For WOW I finished Darkshore for my Loremaster title and can move on to the next area. It was hard to find those last two quests. Yesterday I caught up on Running Man and High School King of Savvy just in time for the new episodes to come out. The first half of the Running Man episode was fun but the second half was a quiz game and not as much fun. They need to go back to name tag ripping, I miss it. The next episode looks like it could be fun. High School King of Savvy is fun and cute kind of in the same way as Protect the Boss was. I need to finish Absolute Boyfriend as well. Today I think I'll play WOW again but I'm not sure how much spinning that will get me.
It's really nice today so I need to make my son go outside. If I don't force him out he will watch TV the rest of the day. We did really well getting back on track with school work and house work. I did some exercises. I haven't done that in almost a month so I just walked in place for fifteen minutes and I could feel it a a little. Today is the start of the big golf tournament so it's really inconvenient trying to get anything done. I know it helps the local economy but it is a bit of a pain in the but with all the extra traffic and people. I guess that's it for now. See you next time.
Saturday, July 5, 2014
It's rainy today so the color is off but here is the red shawl. It's The age of Brass and Steam by Orange Flower Yarn and it's free on Ravelry. A few years ago I bought 6 oz of bamboo from Butterfly Girl Designs on Etsy and I have had it spun up for a wile but I just got around to knitting it. It's 64" x 21" so it's not as deep as I would have liked but it's o.k. I didn't weave the ends in either. For some reason one side seems longer than the other but I'm not sure if it really is or it just got blocked bigger. Today starts Tour de Fleece (and France) so I've been spinning today. I feel like I'm not getting much done but we'll see how much I can get done. I'll take pictures of it the day after because I want good light for the picture. I still plan to do charity knitting tomorrow but will spin again on Monday. I worked a bit on Trillian and it will be my waiting room / before bed knitting. I really need to work on the cup cake but it may be a wile before I get to it.
I played WOW yesterday and had fun talking on WOW with someone from the kdrama group on Ravelry. Other than that there isn't anything I have going on right now. Sorry this is a short post. I'll try to remember to post on Monday. See you then.

What does this look like? It's supposed to be the top of a cupcake with sprinkles. This was one of the things I worked on yesterday. I did some on my sock and after I bought replacement needles I worked on the Trillian. Tomorrow starts Tour de Fleece. I'm not sure I explained that before. Wile the Tour de France runs we spin. It's a spin along, they spin we spin. I don't think I can spin every day because that will hurt my arm but I really want to get a bunch of spinning done. The red shawl is blocking right now. I'm a little sad that I left it in the water to long and the red bled into the white but it will be o.k.
I want to say a tiny bit about the needles. Not this year but the year before I got a set of Knitter's Pride Dreamz for a Valentine's Day present (I got them off a destash so they were a little cheaper). Not long after I bought them I accidentally broke one of the size 4 needles. I complained about it on one of my groups (just a "oh darn look what I did") and Knitter's Pride contacted me to replace the needle. I told them that it was my fault and not their responsibility and they said they would still send them. I was surprised and that made me a customer for life. I really like the needles and the color coding is fun (my son said he would learn to knit so he could have them when I died). I have also tried their Nova (fixed circular size 1) and Carbons (size 3 tips) and have liked those as well. I broke a size 4 again (I leaned on it on accident) so I went to my local yarn store to get more. They were more expensive than if I had order them on line but I wanted them right away. I was not upset but surprised that the old needle was darker and glossier than the new one. I think it's from using them and the oils from my hand getting rubbed into the wood. I just thought that was interesting. I also accidentally sat on my size 1 and it hurt, I don't recommend it.
Today in the U.S. is Independence Day where we celebrate getting rid of British rule. I'm sorry I don't have a patriotic picture to show you. Many of the fireworks displays were canceled because of flooding so I won't have any cool picture of that to show you. I don't think I have anything else to say except I caught up on podcasts yesterday. See you later.

Here is the ceiling of the museum. Mooky's class will be done tomorrow so after the class we will stay and play in the museum. I love the rainbow and you can kind of see why I thought that this was not the best place to be in bad weather. At the end of the page I will put a picture Amey took of two cardinals.
I just finished the red shawl. It's way to dark to take a picture tonight but I'll try to take one tomorrow. Yesterday I was kind of having a day were everything went wrong (just a ton of little things). The bag that had my Trillian in it was on the bed and I accidentally leaned on it and one of the needles broke so I can't work on that. I started working on the cupcake by stringing beads. When I go to bed I'm going to work on the socks that have been sitting around for a wile. Also the Tour de Fleece starts on the 5th. I have so many projects planned. I was just happy to get the shawl off the needles and be able to start something else.
I really haven't been getting anything done this week. I've been so tired. I don't think I'm sleeping badly but I think I'm not drinking enough water. I guess I have nothing exciting to say. Hopefully I'll have a nice picture tomorrow. See you then.

Here is the start of the next sleep sack. It's much bigger now than when I took the picture. I'm planning on working on the red shawl today. I want those needles free before I start on the cupcake. There seems to be some crocheting in my future because after the cupcake I have the totoros to do.
The weekend was fine and I watched some of Absolute Boyfriend (Taiwanese drama) but yesterday was crazy. We stayed up too late on Sunday night so we got up really late Monday. Because of this I actually didn't really eat anything all day which was a bad idea. Amey had to be at her last day of "Lights on for Learning" at about 12:00. It was a day when parents could come and see what the kids had done wile there (so they assumed parents would be there). We couldn't because we had to go across the river to take Mooky to his class. He didn't have to be there till 1:30 but we went right away and Mooky and I went to the library right across the parking lot to wait wile my husband went back to get Amey. She was supposed to be off at 2:15 but after I put Mooky in his class and sat down to knit I got a call that Amey was done and needed to be picked up. She called me because she has my number memorized and not her dad's (she can't usually call him because of work). So he went to pick her up and then went to the library to wait for Mooky to get out of class. It was at a children's museum so he wanted to stay and play so right around 3:00 I called my husband to see what the plan was and he said something was going on at the library but that we would just go home after the class and he would tell me what went on when he saw me (they weren't related just in the same conversation). About five or so minutes after that I was just going to wait by Mooky's class door and I saw his teacher come out and shout down to the information desk (class is on the second floor). She wanted to verify if the sever weather sirens were really going off or not. The sirens were so the class went down to the regular part of the museum away from windows. It was good that I was there because bad weather is one on Mooky's triggers. He was on the verge of panic when he saw me and I could feel his heart pounding. Playing in the museum made him feel better. The teacher told me he had had a melt down in class but at least it was a "I don't want to participate" one and not a screaming fit or something. I got a hold of my husband and we left since it wasn't raining. I also felt we would be at least a little safer at home than the museum if there was bad weather (it's just a big open space with lots of things that could be thrown around). So in the car my husband told me what had gone on in the library. Apparently some guy, who was know by the library staff (and the police), came in yelling that there was a kid with a gun and that all the parents should go be with their kids. The staff tried to calm him down wile the police were called. When the police got there and tried to get him out of the library he refused to go because there was only one cop and kept trying to get into the children's area. Eventually the guy was tased and he pulled it out and kept walking. He was tased twice more and pepper sprayed before they could get him in cuffs and out. From over hearing conversations my husband said that the guy had come in earlier in the day with a similar complaint and that there was not kid with a gun. I asked my daughter if she was o.k. and she said it was scary but she was o.k. So we go home with the bad weather following us. It was you typical bad storm with sever weather warnings and tornado watches but it really freaks Mooky out so I spent time with him calming him down and I think looking at weather maps helped a bit. So I was emotionally tired. Not the adventure I was looking for. Everyone seems to be o.k. so that's something.
Today is the 1st but I'm not sure if we can get the picture. Every year in early July the golf course holds a huge tournament. To prep for this they put up pavilion tents and things like that. It's all right in the way of our picture taking. I might try anyway tomorrow. I think that is enough to tell you so I'll end it now and if anything interesting comes up I'll let you know. See you later.
