This is the stripy scarf I'm making.  I like it when the stripes are clear.  When the colors get too similar it's not so fun.  They yarn is Lion Brand Amazing in "Wild Flowers" and "Strawberry Fields"

Yesterday I watched the "live" chat from Eat Your Kimchi.  When I saw it, it wasn't live anymore.  As fun as those two are I'm not getting up at 6 am to watch them.  The video quality was horrible as well.  I think they said they will look for another service for next time.  I also watched the most recent episode of Let's Eat.  Usually I have a strong opinion  about which male lead I want the girl to end up with but not this time.  I like them both equally.  It looks like it will be taking a bit of a creepy turn in the next episode.  Lastly I watched some episodes of Running Man.  I think I'm on episode 113 which is about fall 2012.  There of course were some funny parts but it's really kind of "you had to be there" humor.  Trying to explain it to anyone just makes it lose all it's funny.

I worked on the ice cream pillows.  I have the one side complete and the other side only needs the cone for my daughter's pillow.  For my son I finished one yellow scoop and am working on the orange one but I'm about to run out of orange.  Once I run out of orange I'll have to stop till I can get some more.  I'll check at Walmart when I go but I'm not sure they carry it anymore, I my have to go to Ben Franklin.  I really don't want to order it.  Once I buy more I'll find the stuff I'm sure I have.   If I have to stop the pillow I will probably cast on my husband's sweater.  I don't really want the pressure of  the dissertation.

The Skein after Skein podcast  has what the call the Epic KAL/CAL going on.  It was to complete twelve projects over the year.  It ends in April and I still have six projects to do.  One sweater (should start soon), three hats and two extras (the shawl I just finished would fall in this group).  So between now and April I have tons to do.  Then in May I want to make a shrug for Amey for my sister's wedding.  With an evening garden wedding and a sleeveless dress I want her to be warm.  I may make one for the other cousin as well.  I was thinking of buying a black dress for me and making a bright red shawl.  My husband thinks black at a wedding would be saying I don't want them to get married but I really just want a background for the red shawl.  Also someone last night asked me to make his daughter a Totoro.  Her birthday is in April but he was ok with it for Christmas.  I was thinking about taking apart the 5X sweater and holding it double like I did for Mooky's Memashib/Totoro and then making regular sized blue one and a small white one.  If he doesn't really end up wanting them I'm sure I could find a home for them some where else.  Now the question is will I get any of this done?

The snow pants were found!  They were at school.  I'm glad because I was going crazy.  I looked everywhere and the store is out of new ones.  I also found my spinning.  On the down side now I can't find my wallet and wonder if I left it at my mom's.  It's either there or here, I'm not afraid it's stolen I just wish I could stop losing things.  That's it for today, now it's time to hunt for my wallet.

Can you see the progress?  You can't  see the heel but it's done.  This was taken with my camera on auto.

I listened to podcasts yesterday.  I was already mostly caught up so I listened to some old Knitting in Circles as well.  It's making me really want to spin.  I worked a  lot on the ice cream pillow for my daughter.  I made one scoop for my son as well.  I thought I had his fire colors in stash but when I wen t to look for them I couldn't find any.  I really don't want to have to buy bright yellow in Read Heart.  I'll work on the cone for Amey's pillow today wile I watch Kdrma.  Oh I almost forgot my shawl is blocking so I should get a picture of that in a couple of days.

The kids are back in school so the house seems really quiet.  I feel bad for all the teachers.  They have lost at least a week and the kids that are already restless will definitely not want to be there.  I guess this is short post today as it's mostly just the same as before.  See you tomorrow.

Here is a terrible tiny picture of my daughter's sock.  The pattern and the yarn don't really go together but that's ok. Do you see the hearts?  Tomorrow I'll show you the tiny bit of progress I made.

That picture was take with my daughter's camera but the pictures I take from now on should be with my new camera and it is really nice.  It's a Canon Power Shot A2500.  Before my brother-in-law gave it to me he charged the battery and put a put in a SD card.  The biggest problem I think I will have is that it is not a standard battery and  I am afraid I will lose the charger.  It has so many features that will help my picture taking and some that are just fun.  Right now I'm just leaving it on "auto" but the setting I will probably use most is the "snow" setting since I have a white back ground I usually take pictures on.  I'm so excited for the nice weather to come so I can get some cool nature shots and my kids in nature shots.

Yesterday I did play WOW but didn't get much progress.  My 90 is almost done with Hinterlands.  The only other thing I have been doing is sending low level supplies to the next toon I plan to ply with.  When "Mists" came out my son started a hunter and it's stuck at level 13 or so. He's getting all the extra linen, wool, low level potions and low level armor if it's not soul bound.  When I get a new computer or something I plan to level him using dungeons only.   Today I plan to listen to podcasts.

For crafting I've just been working on the ice cream pillow for Amey.  I'm almost done withe the fifth scoop.  Before bed I've been doing a couple of rows on the scarf.  If I get stuck on the ice cream pillow I'll cast on for my husband's sweater.  If I wait till the first I can use it as my dissertation.

When we left the the bag at my parents it had all the toiletries in it so my husband bought me more. He asked what I wanted and I said I didn't care.  Now that I have the things I am realizing that I do have an opinion.  I didn't realize before that I had toothbrush and deodorant preferences.  Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things just interesting to me.  The kids are off school again. I'm making them do little bits of reading and writing and throwing out math questions here and there.  It's difficult for me keep the TV off when it's so cold outside and I wasn't planning to have them home.  Same thing with groceries.  I wasn't planning to have them home so I am running out of things like bread and milk.  My husband will get some on his way home but it's still inconvenient in a first world kind of way.  It think that's all my whining for today, hopefully I'll say something more interesting tomorrow. :)

Here is the ice cream pillow as promised.  It was funny that they had Neapolitan ice cream at the party.  I'm working on my daughter's now and haven't blocked the shawl yet.  The pattern is a free one called Rainbow Sherbet Throw Pillow by Twinkie Chan.

We had a fun weekend.  I'll try to remember as much as possible. We left Friday morning because the kids did not have school (it was an institute day or something like that).  It didn't take us as much time as we thought but the drifting snow was not fun.  There were time it was hard to see the cars (even a truck) in front of us.  The kids had fun opening presents with grandma and grandpa. I got a camera and I'm very excited about it.  We got to eat at a falafel place which was nice because we don't have those around here.  In the evening the kids spent the night with the cousins and my husband and I stayed with my patents.  I stayed up way to late talking with two of  my sister.  The next day, after a late breakfast, we went to my niece's birthdays.  She had a dinosaur cake where they pressed dinosaurs into the cake so you could dig them out.  Then we came home.  When we got home we realized that we left the Kindle there but other than that it was a fun trip.

Because I didn't want to spoil the surprise I started a new project.  It's a scarf where you change colors so it was easy car and chatting knitting.  Now that I'm home I did a little more my my daughter's sock and her pillow.  I need to decide about my husband's sweater.  I think I may do it as my dissertation.

Yesterday I listened to some podcasts and today is a WOW day.  The kids are off school so I am trying to keep them off the TV as much as possible.   They have had more days off for weather this year than I did my whole school career.  I will pull them out after June 4th though since the wedding is on June 6th.  Does this make me a bad mom?  I hope not.  Still on the search for a dress for me. I'll talk more about my new camera  tomorrow if I remember. See you then.

Thursday, January 23, 2014

This is the progress on my daughter's pillow from yesterday.  I actually finished another scoop on it since then.  Right now I'm working on sewing my niece's pillow together.  I'll get a picture of it before I give it and no I didn't block the shawl yet.

Yesterday I watched two episodes of Let's Eat.  I don't really like trying new things but I that show makes me really hungry.  This is the kind of thing that makes me wish I lived in a bigger city with more ethnic restaurants.  I watched an episode of Running Man as well. The episode started out slow to the point of being boring and the first game was ok but the second game had me laughing so hard.  The concept is that you are supposed to get the guest's heart rate up .  Kim Jong-kook actually picked her up which didn't raise her heart rate but that may be my new weight loss goal (lose enough weight so Jong-kook could easly lift me).  Lee Gwang-soo cracked me up because he was pretending that Jong-kook was his girlfriend and had Jong-kook sit in his lap. When  Gwang-Soo pretended he was going to kiss Jong-kook I was laughing so hard.  Yoo Jae-suk actually won because he got the guest laughing so hard. He pretended to drop thing and then pick them up by showing off his butt as much as possible.  I needed a good laugh and that just struck me as so funny.

I plan to watch more running man today and work on my niece's pillow.  The kids are off school again for temperature.  I think they have to go to school till June 4th now.  They can't go much past that as my sister's wedding is June 6th and Amey is in the wedding.  They already had tomorrow off so we are going to my Mom's house for a very late Christmas and staying over night for my niece's birthday party.  Even though I will have internet access I will most likely not post tomorrow or Saturday.  I may post on Sunday to make up for it, otherwise I'll see you on Monday. :)

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

I finally took a picture of the bags.  I got three sizes large, medium and long notions pouch.  I love this fabric.  All of the bags came with seven stitch markers (so now I have 21), six are the same and one is different.  I really want to join her bag of the month club.

I finished the shawl.  I don 't have a picture of it since it's not blocked yet.  I'll try to do that today since I will be gone on the weekend.  I'm working on the ice cream pillows.  I am really close to finish the second cone on my niece's pillow.  I'll finish it today and stuff it tomorrow.  I have three scoops done of my daughter's pillow, I'll show the picture of that tomorrow.  I wanted to take a picture of my spinning but I can't find it. Things keep disappearing.  There is a big clearance sale at Walmart and I picked up a bunch of yarn some of it was Peaches and Cream cotton for a dollar a skein.

I caught up on all my podcasts.  Dawn and James (Wolfe Farms) are not sick anymore, and it's breaking my heart that I'm not going to be able to go to the Knitting Pipeline retreat. Amy Beth (Fat Squirrel Speaks) and Steve (Dramatic Knits) are both going to be there (sad face).  The Homespun podcast will be changing.  Because of job changing they won't be able to record together anymore.  Today I want to watch kdrama specifically Let's Eat.

I feel like there was something else I was going to say but I can't think of it now so I guess it's not important, right?  I'll try to write tomorrow.

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

I didn't take any pictures so here is one of a little bowl I bought at the farmers market this summer.  It's a little clay dish that was being sold as a jewelry holder.  I think it looks like a spindle bowl for supported spindles.  Do I own a supported spindle?  Not really but I had to "rescue" it and I may buy more if they are there this summer.

I did play WOW and get some progress but not much.  I did get my hunter out of Hellfire peninsula and into Zengarmarsh.  I meant to watch Let's Eat today but I felt down and knew that podcasts would cheer me up.  I'm almost done with the shawl.  I have one more row then the cast off.  I'll try and remember to take pictures.

This morning was stressful.  I told the kids to get ready for school and if school was canceled  they could go back to bed.  Sadly my son either misheard or something because he was in bed and was waiting for me to tell him if there was school.  My daughter forgot some of her homework and was finishing it at the last minute.  Between checking the weather, if school was canceled and getting Amey to finish her homework I didn't notice he was in bed till late, I thought he was getting ready.   So I'm trying to get him dressed when he's supposed to be getting his coat on.   Then we discover his snow pants are missing.  I looked everywhere and I can't find them.  I don't think they are at school, they are good about things like that.  So I sent Amey to the bus and kept Mooky home to look for his snow pants.  It's just so cold I didn't feel comfortable having him wait outside without them, if I knew they were missing I would have had him put pajamas under his pants.  My husband came home really quickly and drove him to school.  Mommy is not happy.  I just can't figure out where they went.  My husband will get home and the pants will be right there, that's the way it usually works.

On a lighter note I may have seen the owl again.  I was in a rush so I couldn't be sure.  I was driving on the same stretch of road and saw a bigger bird sitting on a wire.  I would have thought it was a crow but it was rounder in shape than a crow.  I guess that's it for today.  Hopefully I'll have more pictures tomorrow.

Here are the swatches pre-wash. The cables don't look like much here but they turned out well.

I don't have much to say.  I spent the weekend listening to podcasts, watching TV and working on my shawl. I listened to old episodes if Knitting in Circles.  I'm up to February 2012.  I was watching US shows since my husband was home.  We got caught up on Almost Human and watched an older one called Life.  We are staying caught up on Hamatora.

My shawl is frustrating me.  I finished the stockinette, and am almost done, but the lace doesn't look anything like the picture.  I know lace needs to be blocked first but I almost can't find the yarn overs at all.  I'll have to see after I block it but I don't think I purling it correctly on the other side.  I should be done with it soon so I can show you a picture.  I need to finish the ice cream pillow before Friday.  Nothing like waiting till the last minute, right?

I actually bought a book at the bookstore.  I usually just get stuff for the kids.  It was over 300 pages and I read it in under 24 hours.  Granted I didn't get anything else done but it made me feel better to read like I used to.  It was Soulless by Gail Carriger.  I also have The #1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith but I'm taking that slower.

I think that's it for today. :)

This is the yarn and the pattern I plan to make for my husband.  Sorry about the glare I was having trouble with the lighting.

I'm sorry I didn't write yesterday, I just had so many errands that I forgot.  I do have a bunch of other things to say so I'll have to figure out where to start.

NerdWars is starting to recruit aging for the next tournament.    There are some new teams like a Steam Punk one and a lot of returning teams.  I signed up for Shady Cels again.  They haven't assigned teams yet but I don't see why they would assign me somewhere else.  My second choice is team Epic which covers RPG things, and one of the things that includes is WOW.  There are so many teams that sound fun but those are my top two.  My husband raids with the Ravelry WOW guild so I was trying to convince him to learn to knit or crochet so he could join team Epic.  There is also someone on Facebook that I am trying to convince to join.  If she did she would probably be on 221B (the Sherlock team).  My best friend from college has a sister that also plays NerdWars.  She is on the Space Alliance team.  It covers most space teams (Babolyn 5 and Firefly have their own teams).  Because of NerdWars I was trying to decide if I should make the sweater for my dissertation or start on my own.

As for the sweater besides starting it on my own I have had a sad experience with the swatch.  I told you I had to go down two needle sizes to get gauge.  My gauge was beautiful until I washed the swatch.  Because it is acrylic I just threw it in the washer and dryer as I normally would.  It grew width wise and shrank length wise.  I am not amused.  I'm going to have to hand wash it and I was really hoping I didn't have to since it's acrylic.  It's that the whole benefit to acrylic? Oh well.

I have been working hard on the ice cream pillows and I ran out of white with half a scoop left.  I'll try and pick some more up today.  I thought I had some but I can see the difference even though my daughter says it's the same color.  It could be that it was the same color but it's old now.  I need other yarn becasuse putting that color in will make me hate the project.

I did receive my bags, I'll try to remember to take a picture.  I was thinking the other day about my projects.  I lock my projects in the car if I can't take them with me and if anyone decided to steal them they would be disappointed but it's actually somewhat expensive.  The bag is $22 the yarn is $26 and the needles and $6ish.  That's over $50 that is only valuable to me. It's interesting what different people value.

I think that's it for today.  I'm tired and I got a new book I'm going to go snuggle under some blankets and read.

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

See the ice cream cone is almost done.  This was my progress as of Monday.  I'm going to go look for the missing color today.  Do you like my pin stitch markers?

I made a bunch of swatches yesterday. I found out that to get gauge I need to use a size 6 (US) needle.  The problem with that is I'm using my 6 for the shawl.  Since they are interchangeable I can switch them but I think I may need to finish the shawl before I start the sweater.  Well I can start the sweater because it starts with ribbing on smaller needles.  The cabling wasn't really hard either but just "fiddly" for lack of a better word.  Today I will work probably work on the shawl unless I can get the color for Amey's ice cream.

I listened to podcasts yesterday.  I'm caught up on my regular ones and am working on Knitting in Circles.  The sound she adds at the end of "ing" words isn't bothering me so much now.  I love all her geeky shirts. I have some errands so if I have time I'll play WOW.

Tonight we are going back to the SCA.  In the effort to recreate the time periods they do fight. They armor themselves with aluminum, plastic and/or leather and hit each other with big sticks made of rattan (yes the stuff they make furniture out of).  I have been told that it feel like getting hit with a baseball bat, I have no desire to find out myself.  About a year ago the armor on my husband's elbow slipped and he got hit hard.  He is stubborn and didn't get it checked out for a long time so I'm not sure if it ever healed right or completely.   He didn't feel like going for a wile but now he wants to so it looks like we will be busy on Wednesdays again.

I saw and owl yesterday!  It's the first one I have ever seen outside of a zoo.  I wouldn't have seen it because I was driving but my passenger did.  I backed the car up since no one was behind and got a better look.  It was brown and white with a round face.  I though that maybe it was juvenile since it seemed small to me.  It was sitting on a pile of dirty snow next to the road and the brown and white blended in really well (more than you would think).  After I backed the car up it kind of gave an annoyed look and flew off.  When I got home I looked it up and is seemed to be a Barred owl. I hope I get to see more nature things as it gets warmer.

Ok that's all the news for now.  I'll try and write tomorrow.

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

This was my Friday picture of the ice cream pillows.  My daughter says when its just pink and white it looks like a cow.  I think it looks a little like cake and can see how you could easily modify this to be a cup cake. The store was out of the color Amey wanted so I am throwing "temper tantrum" and working on something else even though it doesn't effect my nieces pillow.  If it gets close to her birthday I'll finish her's up.

What I am doing instead of finishing up the pillow is making the swatch for my husband's sweater.  I'm using Berroco Comfort and I love how soft it is.  I have used it before to crochet and it didn't seem as splitty. The pattern recommends a US size 8 needle and 20 stitches to get 4".  I got 4.5".  So I went down to a 7 and got 4.25".  Now I'm swatching with a 6.  It seems I am a tight crocher and a loose knitter.  I love the feel and drape of the fabric on the size 8 needles but maybe it should be tighter for a sweater.

Yesterday I had some errands so I wasn't home to do anything.  I did listen to some podcasts wile I worked on the swatch.  I was going to play WOW today but it't Tuesday which means maintenance.  There is not point even trying to sign on till afternoon so I will listen to more podcasts today and maybe play WOW tomorrow.   I think that's it for today.  I'll try and write some tomorrow.

Monday, January 13, 2014

Here is the shawl as of Friday.  Does it look bigger?  It's interesting, when I'm working on it the pattern looks random but here it looks like it's pooling.

I'm tired and don't know how much I'll get done but over the weekend I made a lot of progress on the ice cream pillow.  I need to make one cone then sew it together and stuff it.  I'll post a picture tomorrow of how it looked on Friday.  I'll have to take a new picture as well.  I'm starting on my daughter's pillow but she wants different coloers.  The other thing I want to do is swatch for my husband's sweater.

On Saturday I watched a new anime with my husband.    Hamatora is interesting and has a Getbckers feel to it.  I think this is the first time in a wile that I really enjoyed a new anime.  I will be looking forward to when it comes out.  I really liked Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club but I didn't get into it for the story at first it was the way the water was animated.  I have been avoiding Hunter X Hunter because it's so dark.

Now if we move countries from Japan to Korea I have been watching some Running Man.  It does cheer me up when it's so funny.  I'm on episode 108 which is the summer of 2012 I believe.  Haha cracks me up. There is an episode where Jong-kook is on the beach in a suit with a rainbow umbrella where he looks really nice.  I've been enjoying the show but people have said that these episodes aren't as good as the early ones so I'm nervous.   I know there are some big name coming up so I'm looking forward to that.

I think that's it. I may play WOW today so I may have an update tomorrow.  See you then.

Saturday, January 11, 2014

This is how far I was on my shawl on the 1st.  Next post I'll show you how much it's grown.

I got my 90 out of Arathi Highlands and now she only has Hinterlands till she has "Lore Master" for the Eastern Kingdoms.  I was having terrible lag in Pandaria so I had to stop.  Other than that nothing much.  Today is supposed to be Kdrama day but I think it will be an anime day.

I didn't really work on anything yesterday so I don't really have any updates.  I'm sure I'll have a big one on Monday

Friday, January 10, 2014

I am so embarrassed to show you this.  I look like snowman or something.  The button band pulling is bad sewing not my fat. It did kind of work out because of the "polar vortex" or whatever they called it (where our temperatures were colder than Alaska's) a blanked you can wear came in handy. The picture I posed yesterday was one of some little granny square butterflies I made for my daughter.  You make a little granny square and tie the middle with some yarn or a pipe cleaner. I put clips on the back so she could wear them in her hair but you could put magnets or googly eyes or what ever.

Apparently Internet Explorer and Blogger are not getting along.  I can post pictures as long as use Chrome.  So now I have IE and Chrome on my computer and every time I want to do  search it says "do you want this to be your default?" It's like your kids saying "mommy do you love me best?"  Really when I click on you I want to use you if I don't I don't get over it.

I've been working hard on the ice cream pillow.  I have five of the six scoops I need.  I also bought a pattern an yarn to make my husband a sweater.  It has cables I haven't done cables before (but I understand the concept).  It is worked flat and seamed and that seems illogical to me.  I want to make it in the round but as you can see it was disaster last time I tried to modify a pattern.  I'll probably do it the way the instructions say and grumble in my head the whole time.

I listened to a bunch of podcasts and watched some Running Man.  Yesterday was supposed to be a WOW day but I was feeling "bla" so I'll do that today.  I think that's all I have to say but now that I know I can post with Chrome I will try to get back on schedule.

This is a test
Well I'm still having picture trouble.  I'm getting frustrated.  I looked on the Blogger help page but it was things like turn off your pop-up blocker, clear you browser.  That is not the problem when it's been working fine for months.  I also must not know how to navigate their site because it was hard to find where to ask a question.  I did ask one but it looks like it went to some board that I don't know how to access.  I'm not going to update this often if it's not fun.

On the fun side I finished four of the six ice cream scoops I need for the first pillow. I'm going to go play WOW.

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

Sorry there's not picture today.  I tried a few times to make it work but I don't know what's wrong.  I feel like my computer and Blogger have not been talking to each other lately.  I was getting a ton of error messages.  Today no error message but no picture.

I played WOW yesterday and made  little progress.  Mostly my 90 got the area she was working on done so she has only two left and all of Eastern Kingdoms will be done for her "Lore Master" title.  My panda also got to level 69.  Today is a podcast day.

I've been working on the ice cream pillow.  My kids want one too so I think I will end up making four.  In the pattern it  calls for a yarn that has candy colors and a sherbet look.  The one I'm making now will be Neapolitan.  The one for my daughter will have more "normal" ice cream colors too but the one for my son and another niece will be the more "out there" colors. (Mooky wants fire colors) It is worked in two long pieces and sewn together.  I finished the first scoop on the fist side.  I think I'll get  bunch done today wile listening to podcasts.

School got canceled again today.  I'm glad they don't have to wait in the below zero temps but they are going to be sad when they have to make in up in June.  It's 6 degrees right now but I think it was -9 this morning when the kids would be waiting for the bus. If the pictures won't work I probably won't post till I can figure out what is going on.

Monday, January 6, 2014

Here are my hands after making the play dough.  They still have a touch of color around the nails.

It's COLD!  I've lived in the Midwest all my live but I don't remember it being quite this bad.  I also haven't always had kids to worry about.  If it was only me I probably wouldn't pay so much attention.  School was canceled and I'm glad.  When it's -15 (Fahrenheit I think that is -26 in Celsius) I don't want the kids waiting for the bus.  I don't know how they do it in more northern places.

I didn't listen to many podcasts but I did watch kdrama.  I am caught up on Let's Eat and I'm watching Cheongdamdong Alice (I'm not going to use that long word again and just refer to the drama as ... Alice) Let's Eat  is a little more light hearted and give me the Flower Boy Next Door feeling.  It could be because it's about neighbors.  ... Alice is not heavy exactly but feels heaver than Let's Eat. It's about what you do when  you lose your dream and what love really means.

I didn't work on the sock or the shawl, I worked on a new project.  I am making an ice cream pillow for one of my nieces for her birthday.  I've started it and ripped it out a couple of times for various reasons but I think I have it now.  Today is a WOW day, though, so I probably won't get much done.

I did do my exercises but the rest of the day will be hiding from the cold.  See you tomorrow.

Saturday, January 4, 2014

Here is the play dough.  We didn't play with it yesterday so we'll have to see next time.

Yesterday I spent the day siting around watching TV with different people in the family.  I worked a bit on the shawl.  I'm very frustrated with my families lack of communication.  They keep moving Christmas and then no one know what's going on.   I got a text from my mom (on Thursday I think) saying my sister that lives the farthest wasn't coming.  My husband and I debated back and forth what we should do.  We decided not to go at about 4 pm.  At about 6 pm the family that live far says "oh we well come but late." So we had to decide all over again and finally decided that we would just wait and go to my niece's birthday at the end of January.  I think the stress of that and the fact I don't drink enough water made me feel ill.  I feel better now after some sleep but everything yesterday form 4 on was stress full.

I do plan to listen to podcasts today and work on my daughter's sock.  Right now I'm nervous about Monday because it's supposed to be so cold and the kids have to wait for the bus.  When I was growing up I lived a block from my school, that would be different.  If I could drive them that would be different.  Making them stand in the cold waiting for the bus does not seem like good parenting to me.

There wasn't much to report so maybe Monday will be better.

This is our 1st of January picture.  It was taken about 3:00 p.m. and it was cold and snowy.  We did hear birds but it was too cold to find out where or what they were.  I wanted to try to take more pictures but the batteries were dying and the camera was really cold.

Yesterday I watched a kdrama called Let's Eat.  It's a bout a divorced woman who lives alone and likes it except for the fact that she can't really go anywhere to eat by herself and she really enjoys good food.  It talks about friendships formed around food and there is a mystery going on in the background.  I'm not an adventurous eater but the way this food is filmed makes me want to try it.  Up until this drama all the ones I have watched have been finished so I could watch them all at once.  I don't know how many episodes this will have but only five are out right now, most dramas I have watched have 16-20.  I'll have to find another one to watch wile I wait for new episodes.

For my crafting I did work on my shawl but it is going really slowly.  I am being fanatical about stitch counts.  Between that and reading subtitles I haven't gotten much done.  Since today is a WOW day I won't get much done today either.  We did get the tree mostly down (it's fake), took our walk and kind of made play dough yesterday. Today's plan is to finish putting away the Christmas things and write the "thank you" cards.

I read the recipe for the play dough but didn't read the quantities for the ingredients.  I started the play dough then realized I didn't have near enough salt, so I decided to substitute sugar.  I was going to have to throw it away so I figured it couldn't hurt to try.  It kind of worked.  The dough was extra sticky so I kneaded it with flour and it seemed fine.  We kneaded in food coloring so it got all over out hands.  We took a picture of the play dough and my hands so I will show those to you later.  Today when the kids tried to play with the play dough again it was really sticky and not ball like at all (almost melted) so we used more flour.  If worse come to worse we will throw it away but it kept the TV off for a little wile.

NerdWars ended on the 28th of December so now there is a month off before it starts again in February.  Now is the time for new teams to form (looks like there will be a steam punk team this time) and old teams to decide if they are going to stick around (the Sherlock team has been confirmed).  Shady Cels will be around but we have a couple of changes.  One is our team manager will be stepping down.  Real life comes first and she will still play just not as manager.  I think a new one has been found but I'm not sure yet.  Right now we are debating the inclusion of live action versions of comic.  Right now we include comics, cartoons, manga, anime and web comics.  So for example we include Marvel comic books but the X-Men or Avengers movies are not part of it (unless they are animated).  Marvel can be claimed clamed by the Disney team (since Disney owns the rights) but there are other things like the kdrama version of Boys Over Flowers or the live action version of Kenshin that are not claimed.  Overlap is ok like Team One More Page (books) and Team Precious (Tolkine) so we could have Marvel too.  We are trying to see if this would be beneficial to our team or not.  The other issue under discussion is CGI.  It is animation but  how much of it needs to be in a movie before it counts for our team.  Ah the politics of a game.

I guess that's it for today.  If NerdWars sounds fun please come over to the NerdWars group in Ravelry.  If you like something there is probably a team for it.

I made this yukta for my daughter.  I know this isn't the best picture but it shows the sleeves the best.  I made it because we were going to go to a summer festival then didn't make it.  Sadly it was a bit to small when I made it and now she has grown.

Yesterday I listened to all my podcasts and caught up on any that had new episodes.  A few did not because of the holiday and that is understandable.  I said I was going to listen to Wild Ideas but I just don't feel like it so I listened to Knitting in Circles.  As stupid as it sounds my biggest problem with it is I can't block out the slight "k" sound she adds to the end of "ing" words.  I know I have issues and I'll get over it, it will just take time.  Today is kdrama day and I think I will start a new one called Let's Eat.

I had the toe started for my daughter's socks but yesterday I got three heart repeats done.   For her size that is almost the whole foot, the heel starts in the middle of the next heart.  I'm using the "sweet tomato" heel, which is done in short row wedges, and I can't remember how many wedges I did. I know it was at least three.  I'll just do it till it matches the first one.  For my shawl I ripped it out and started over.  I'll work on that today and count the stitches carefully.  I have a little tin with a row counter bracelet and most of my stitch markers in it and I know I put it somewhere safe but I can't remember where that safe place it.  I need to get organized.

I'm not one for making resolutions so I didn't outside of trying to do a little better every day.  I feel like making new changes when the weather is warm and things are growing.  It's to cold and snowy I feel like I should be part bear and climb under the covers and sleep.  That being said I do have some projects I want to do with the kids so we'll see if we can get to them.  The first is to bundle up and take a short walk to a spot where we can take a picture.  I want to take a picture on the 1st (or as close to it as possible) every month and at the end of they year have some neat pictures of the changing seasons.  I want to take the Christmas tree down today.  We made the "thank you" cards but they aren't written out. Also the fun one is making play dough.  I have a recipe for home made play dough that I want to try and I know my son at least wants to do it.

I'm going to give my kids names for ease of sentences.  These are not their real names but close enough.  My daughter will be Amey (pronounced Amy, it was her idea) and my son will be Mooky.  Spell checker doesn't like either of those.  lol

I'm going to try to take a bunch of picture today because I'm running out of pictures.
See you tomorrow.
