The sleeve cuffs cam out fine.  It was a lot easier to do this ribbing than it was to do the one on the bottom of the sweater.  The rest of the sleeve seems to be taking much longer.  I don't know why but the pattern seems to be more fiddly than it was for the back. I really don't think I will finish in time.  Twice I got the yarns mixed up and knit the sleeves together so now I'm being very, very careful.

Yesterday was just a weird sort of day where nothing happened but nothing got done.  My husband has had some weird 5 am till 2 pm shifts and it makes us all tired.  I know he works way harder than I do but I also hear the alarm and sometimes can't get back to sleep.  I will be glad when his schedule gets back to normal (for us).

Today didn't go as planned (that's why I'm posting so late) but in a good way.  My sister called and said she would be in the area and could she come over.  We got a little visit and I gave my niece her very late Christmas present.  I still didn't have her birthday present done yet.  After she left we watched a movie (on DVD) as a family, which is something we don't do often.  So now it's late and I actually have time to write.

My husband was very sweet and brought me home the pink and brown that I was missing to finish the ice cream pillow.  Now they both have pink scoops and one has a chocolate scoop.  Today I am sewing together my son's ice cream pillow but I'm not sure I'll finish it. I did get a little done on my Hitchhiker wile we watched the movie. I think I'm up to 23 teeth.

So my friend (without me) found a sewing machine at Good Will for $25 (great deal). It’s a White model 614, it's very heavy and is a in a table. It seems fine to me but there are two things that might be a problem. 1) it is a knee pedal not a foot pedal. At some point it fell out of it’s space and I couldn't figure out how to get it back in. It looks like it slides but there didn't seem to be enough room to get it to slide back in. 2) with the way the bobbin is it feels tight (to me) to change it. I was just looking and trying it quickly so there may be a trick to it. Hopefully she will like it and when/if she can get the knee pedal figured out I can talk to her about sewing. It came with some bobbins and she was asking about them. She thought they unscrewed to get the thread on and off. When I said no she looked at me with horror thinking she had to wind it on. I told her the machine will do it and she said “even one this old?” I assured her that I had an older one and it could do it. I need to go look up a manual so I can see how to thread it.  This should be an adventure.
